Midday Snowstorm: a Musical Code Poem

This code poem, Midday Snowstorm, though as always I struggle with the correct name, is a small fragment of content I hope will be available soon to those who look out the window of Jennie’s Room. It aims to capture a mood rather than any easily translatable meaning; the phrases are chosen from the larger work to be evocative and thought-provoking.

In addition to being (as all my stuff is so far) in vanilla JavaScript, this project involved a few additional constraints: I wanted sound and images without sound or image assets. The sun is just a bunch of 1- or 2-pixel divs, the snowflakes are asterisks in Nanum Brush Script (a free Google font), and the sounds were created using the Web Audio API, which basically lets you use a browser as a synthesizer (if I have the energy, I may make a longer post talking about learning to use it, but for now I’ll just encourage you to check out the code, which is available for download, and explore MDN web docs) if you want to know more.
